For today, I found a quote that sums up my feelings about the election of Barack Obama to be our next President. The following prayer was reported in the Nicholas Kristof column this morning. It’s from a preacher who had once been a slave. Martin Luther King used it in a speech in Hawaii in 1959, two years before Obama was born in Honolulu.
“Lord, we ain’t what we want to be; we ain’t what we ought to be; we ain’t what we gonna be, but, thank God, we ain’t what we was.”
